Statement: Similar to large stained glass cathedral triptychs, this hand sewn and hand painted patchwork mural is intended to invoke a sense of history and community. Greensboro, NC is historically known for their textile production, specifically denim. Southern Mill towns were more than setting, but permeated the entire community and developed unique cultures of work and family. A denim drive was held within the company so each denim patch is from a member of the LS3P family or was donated by local denim mills in Greensboro. By combining quilting and the red square, my goal was to show Greensboro’s spirit of hardwork and community matching and welcoming the traits of LS3P and their team.
